Kurt and Johanna Wedding Louisville, KY

Have camera, will travel! I am completing what we have called here at the Hudson household “The May Gauntlet”. I am leaving for New York first thing in the morning and that will complete the crazy month of May. Before I leave I had to post about the wedding I did last week in Louisville, KY for my good friend Johanna. This wedding was super modern and awesome. Johanna hand made everything for her wedding, right down to having the dress hand made by one of her friends. They had no bridal party, the day was truly about them and them only! They broke the mold for my standard wedding photography and for that I will forever owe them. I now see things differently than before, I believe this one wedding has taken me to a new level of photography. I hope everyone takes as much time as Kurt and Johanna did when planning their wedding and really think about the things that they are doing during the ceremony and what is really important. Is having a unity candle really important? Is having every single one of your friends up there with you really about you? These are the questions you should ask yourself when planning your wedding, because until last Saturday the answer to those questions from me would have been “absolutely” and now I don’t think that is the case. Stripping off all the fakeness and “traditions” and getting to the bare bones of what the day is about…..the bride and groom starting life together. Ok enough rambling from me, pictures are in the wedding gallery but here is one to get you started.

Falls Engagement Session

Man yesterday was beautiful! And what a better way to spend it than doing an engagement session! We were out around Tuscaloosa and the river area shooting Cameron and Lyndsey. They are an awesome couple who have great style and love to have a great time. Blake, Cameron’s 10 year old son, also joined in on the fun and we had a great time climbing trees and running around. All in all a great day and the pictures show it! Here is a preview more to come later in the week….

We also have a new type of print. It is has a metallic finish, it is only available on certain prints and it has an additional cost, but it looks amazing! You have never seen anything like this and if you pick one up everyone that comes to your house and sees it will ooo and aah over it! It really takes the HDR prints to the next level. We will continue to add prints to the “Art for Sale” page so make sure you get over there and check our stuff out.

Tuscaloosa Bridal Show a huge success!

It was great meeting everyone at the Bridal show! We had a great time talking with all the potential brides about making their wedding day the best it could possibly be! We noticed one thing about the show that you girls are out there planning your wedding well in advance. We had one that was looking at an October 2012 wedding! I can’t plan for my lunch tomorrow much less a wedding 2 years away!

We also heard that you guys like our pricing structure and the simple way we make things. I wanted to list out the things that you get with our package of $2400. I will have to go to the investment page and re-do it to better show what comes with the package, I think it might be a little vague.

- Unlimited, all day coverage with me
- Second photographer at the ceremony and reception
- Online gallery of all edited photos for easy ordering (this is a big plus so you don’t have to handle your whole family’s orders, it’s taken care of for you with this gallery)
- High res, fully released edited photos on DVD
- Custom slide show set to music, this is great for your computer and Face book
- Engagement Session (this helps us get to know each other, that way we are very comfortable on the wedding day, it shows in the pictures!)

All that is included in the package for $2400.

Haiti Video

I talk to a lot of photographers on a few of the forums that I frequent and we were talking about the Haiti situation. There are a lot of efforts out there right now to try and help that area. Jesse Erasmus has just come back from over there where he was doing a photojournalism tour to bring awareness to this impoverished nation. HE has a very powerful video that shows how these people were living before the earthquake. They were already in bad conditions, living in what we would consider a tool shed, you can barely call it shelter. I want everyone to watch this video and pick one of the many charities out there to help these people! Or even better, hop on a plane and go make a difference!
